Day 1 — Arrive Paro

  • Arrive Paro, permit check, short sightseeing (Paro Dzong, Ta Dzong). Overnight Paro.
Day 2 — Paro to Shana (trek start)
  • Drive to trailhead; trek 3–4 hrs through pine/rhododendron to Shana. Camp/lodge.
Day 3 — Shana to Soi Thangthangkha (or Jangothang approach)
  • Trek 5–6 hrs ascending through forest to alpine meadows; camp near Soi/Thangthangkha area.
Day 4 — Soi to Jangothang
  • Trek 5–7 hrs crossing moraine/streams into the Jangothang basin; views of Jomolhari/Jichu Drake. Camp at Jangothang.
Day 5 — Jangothang (acclimatize & explore)
  • Rest, short hikes to nearby lakes and viewpoints; explore base of Jomolhari, meet yak herders. Overnight Jangothang.
Day 6 — Jangothang to Lingshi La area / high pasture
  • Optional day hike toward high pastures or circumnavigate for views; overnight at high camp near Jangothang.
Day 7 — Jangothang to Soi/Descent
  • Begin return leg, trek 5–7 hrs descending toward Soi/Thangthangkha or similar camp.
Day 8 — Descent to Shana
  • Trek 4–6 hrs descending through forest toward Shana. Overnight Shana.
Day 9 — Shana to Paro Valley / Drukgyel
  • Trek out to trailhead; drive back to Paro or stay near Drukgyel. Overnight Paro.
Day 10 — Paro sightseeing / buffer day
  • Buffer for weather or rest; visit Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) or local sites. Overnight Paro.
Day 11 — Depart Paro
  • Transfer to airport / onward travel.

  • Typical daily walking: 3–7 hours; altitudes range ~2,500–4,900 m.
  • Pack warm layers, rain gear, sturdy boots, and high‑altitude essentials.
